Headed to Boston

The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts, is the next stop for our Digital Light Ophthalmoscope (DLO).

Joslin is a prestigious eye care provider with a long history of specializing in diabetic patient care. They are also leaders in telemedicine and screening for diabetic retinopathy. Over the next few months a validation study of the DLO will be carried out, imaging many people in the process. All of us at Aeon are excited for the DLO to be testing by their talented team. Please watch our social media feeds for continued updates on this project.

Orange Wavelengths of Light for Retinal Imaging

Orange is the new Green! That’s what everyone is saying around Aeon Imaging, LLC.

Dr. Elsner, CEO and founder, has been working with orange wavelengths of light to image the fundus of the eye, specifically the retina. She brought this work of 25 years in her laboratory to Aeon’s newest digital fundus camera.

Aeon’s Digital Light Ophthalmoscope (DLO) has to date overcome the problems with small pupils, even in dark eyes. Testing is planned for the next few month at sites in Boston, Massachusetts and Alameda County, California. Watch our social media feeds for updates on this project!

Real Life Science Exhibit at the WonderLab

To celebrate MLK day this year, Aeon Imaging participated in the “Real Life Science” exhibit at The WonderLab Children’s Museum, Bloomington, Indiana. We brought a 3D printer that we use to rapidly build camera prototypes. 3D printing is very helpful as we work to develop our low cost retinal cameras and other imaging devices.

Our company mission is to decrease the cost of healthcare in the world, and helping get our youth excited about science contributes to that mission in the long-term. They are the future scientists that will be providing healthcare and making continued medical innovations for future generations. We believe inspiring them to give their best efforts to science now is a worthwhile and important goal. The event turned out great, and we had fun!

Other updates for Aeon: Very soon we will be sending several camera prototypes to our collaborators at UC Berkeley in California and the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. In the coming months these will be used to preform eye exams on many disadvantaged people in need of eye care. We are excited for what’s ahead and invite you to follow us on social media as we go forward.

Senator Donnelly’s Visit to Aeon

Great article and video from Michael Reschke (Herald Times) about Senator Joe Donnelly’s visit yesterday to Aeon Imaging, LLC.

Senator Donnelly helped run one of our 3D printers to experience our approach to rapid prototyping. He also assembled optical components and mounts for a retinal camera prototype! Read the whole article on Herald Times Online.
